Morayfield State School is situated on Morayfield Road, in the Moreton Regional Shire, one of the fastest growing areas in the state. It was established in 1873, and was the first school in the Caboolture District. The original building is still on site and serves as the Learning Support Centre.
Currently we have 583 students enrolled from Prep to Year 7. The school caters for mainly urban students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
The teachers in our 24 classrooms are supported by a variety of specialists including Teacher Librarian; teachers of Classroom and Instrumental Music, Physical Education and LOTE (Japanese and French); Guidance Officer and Learning Support teachers as well as a visiting ESL teacher.
A Special Education Program caters for 47 verified children. An enthusiastic and experienced team of teachers and aides support our classroom teachers in implementing an inclusive curriculum.
Teaching facilities are mostly double teaching spaces which have had flexible room dividers installed to allow children to work with minimal disruption. One computer lab has 18 computers catering for large group instruction, with all classrooms having computers to allow teachers to integrate ICTs into the curriculum.
Two adventure playground areas, a junior fitness trail, a newly resurfaced tennis court, a basketball court and the bottom oval to the south provide valuable outlets for our students’ energy. Access to the council oval adjoining the western boundary adds valuable playing space. A number of murals around the school are curriculum related and help to brighten our learning environment.
We have a Parent Liaison and Community Education building – the P.L.A.C.E. – on the campus. Funded by the Caboolture South Community Renewal Program, the P.L.A.C.E provides an effective facility where parents can coordinate their involvement in our school.
